Active Eight is an inclusive one-stop NDIS therapy and activity hub offering a range of holistic and innovative services and programs for children, adolescents, and young people (0-25 years of age) of all abilities. Our organisation comprises of a multidisciplinary team of health and recreation staff who are passionate about activating the physical, social, and emotional potential of each of our members.

As Active Eight’s programs, services, and member base has continued to grow exponentially since our doors opened in June 2018, our doors are always open to meeting like-minded practitioners, therapy assistants, and casual staff.

  • We are seeking therapists with passion and experience in supporting children with developmental disorders including ASD, physical & neurological conditions and behavioural support needs. You'll hit the ground running with a caseload from our waiting list and crossreferrals for assessments and internal therapy services. Your work will be primarily based in our Toowong hub, with some home and school visits as the caseload demands. The roles will focus on core skills of enablement, collaboration, environmental adaptation, assessment, problem solving, group work and the use of activity as a therapeutic tool.

    • Develop and implement innovative individual therapies and programs for children young people with disabilities and those living in care that will support our members to build independence and participate in meaningful activities;

    • Liaise with other disciplines within the organisation to develop and maintain well coordinated member intervention and support;

    • Develop and present in-house professional development presentations as requested;

    • Actively participate in program development and quality improvement initiatives;

    • Abide by organisational and departmental policies and procedures;

    • Maintain ethical and professional standards;

    • Other duties as may be reasonably requested by the supervisor.

Background: Suits students studying part or full time in a range of disciplines

  • Active Eight is always on the lookout for passionate volunteers and inspiring casual staff who can help us deliver fun and engaging sessions and activities for children & young people of all abilities.

    • Play coaches (play coaches deliver 1-on-1 play sessions that bring out the social, communication and PLAY skills in our Active Eight members. Active Eight provides training and ongoing mentoring to our play coaches, as well as direct supervision from our experienced therapists)

    • Dance & drama assistants (assist in the delivery of life-changing dance and drama sessions in our A8 studio)

    • Program & holiday facilitators (assist the delivery of school holiday programs and super fun weekly activities such as drumming, ninja warrior/adapted gymnastics, yoga or art classes)

    • Allied health assistants (work under direct and indirect supervision of A8’s experienced therapy team in a speciality area such as physiotherapy, speech and language pathology, occupational therapy, art therapy, exercise physiology
